The Grassroots Mgmt. calendar: the next training session with its weather and time, followed by a league match and a cup tie.

What it does

Everything the team needs, in one place.

No more chasing replies in the group chat or rewriting the same team sheet every week.

The Team tab: formations, tactics and training at the top, the coaching staff, then the squad grouped into goalkeepers, defenders and midfielders with their shirt numbers.

Squad management

Your squad and staff, sorted.

Add players with their squad number and position, and the squad lays itself out by position.

  • Invite a parent or guardian for each player — and a second for children with two households.
  • Bring in your assistant coaches; the manager decides who else runs the team.
  • Parents see the squad, fixtures and results, but never another family's contact details.
A league fixture against Northfield Rangers: date, kick-off and meet times, the home ground with a directions button, the pitch, the format and the forecast.

Fixtures, training and socials

Set up the season in minutes, not evenings.

League matches, cup ties and friendlies, home or away — plus training and socials that repeat weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

  • Return fixtures in one tap. Save a match and the app offers the return: same opponent and format, home and away swapped.
  • Addresses fill themselves in. Your home ground is saved with the team, and every opponent's ground is remembered from the last visit.
  • Kick-off not agreed yet? Add the fixture now and the time later.
  • The forecast for kick-off, and one tap for directions to any ground.
The availability list for a fixture, showing who can play, who cannot and who has not answered yet.

Player availability

Know who's coming before Saturday.

Players and parents say whether they can make it from their own phone, with a reason if they can't.

  • See at a glance who's in, who's out and who hasn't answered.
  • Get told as the answers come in — no more scrolling back through the group chat.
  • Reasons stay private to the coaches.
The team sheet: captain and vice-captain chosen, and players placed on a pitch in a 9v9 shape.

Line-ups and team sheets

Pick your team on a pitch, not on paper.

Drag players into position, fill the bench and name your captains.

  • Start from one of your saved formations, or from scratch.
  • Keep more than one sheet for a match and choose which one plays.
  • Swap team sheets with the other manager on match day by QR code — no paper.
The tactics board: home and opposition players on a full pitch, with a curved pass and a dashed run drawn between them.

Tactics board

Show them, don't just tell them.

A full tactics board with your players, the opposition and the ball.

  • Drag players into place and draw passes and runs — straight or curved.
  • Save a tactic once, use it all season. Shortlist your saved tactics for any fixture.
  • Design training drills with cones and coloured bibs, and attach them to a session.
Team statistics for the 2026/27 season: goals scored and conceded per game, played, won, drawn and lost, and a list of opponents with the record against each.

Match stats and opponents

The season, worked out for you.

Log goals, assists, cards and subs as they happen and the score keeps itself — it carries on logging with no signal and catches up when you're back online.

  • Appearances, minutes, goals, assists and clean sheets for every player, with nothing to type up.
  • Know your opponent. Before you meet a team again, see your full record against them, past results and your coaching staff's notes from last time.
  • Parents and other coaches can follow the score live.

Pricing

One price for the whole team.

One coach subscribes, and everyone else in the team uses it free.

Why it exists

Built by a grassroots manager.

Hi, I'm Brett Spooner, the manager of Rawmarsh St Joseph's Red, and I've been doing it for four years, ever since I volunteered to take the job on because the team my son was joining didn't have anyone to run it — like so many others out there.

I've always been a heavy user of technology, and from the outset I used apps to organise the team and the parents. But of the four I tried, none of them did everything I wanted: they had annoying ads, lacked deeper features, or just weren't nice to use. That's why I decided to build my own.

I hope you find it easy and simple to use, but with features that let you get as technical and tactical as you want — after all, it's the fine details that make the difference. I hope Grassroots Mgmt. gives you the tools to do what matters to you, and helps you be the best manager or coach you can be for your great bunch of kids.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who is Grassroots Mgmt. for?

The managers and coaches who run grassroots football teams — junior and adult — and the parents and players in them. Coaches run the squad, the fixtures, the team sheets and the match; parents and players answer availability and follow the season.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. Everything works the same on every one of them, so it doesn't matter what the rest of the team uses.

How does the free trial work?

New subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial, which begins when a coach subscribes. If you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends you won't be charged; otherwise it becomes a monthly subscription at £5.99. Each account is offered the trial once.

Do parents and players have to pay?

No. The subscription belongs to the team, not to a person. One coach subscribes and everyone in the team — the other coaches, the players and the parents — uses the app at no extra cost.

Do children need their own accounts?

No. Children appear as players, added by their coach, and never have logins of their own. In a youth team the account belongs to a parent or guardian, who answers availability on the child's behalf.

How is our data handled?

Your data is held in the UK and is never sold or used for advertising. Contact details, availability reasons and coaches' notes are never shown to other families. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.

The privacy notice sets out exactly what we hold, why, and what you can ask for.

What happens if we stop paying?

Nothing is deleted when a subscription ends. Everyone in the team can still read everything — the squad, past fixtures, results and stats — but nothing new can be added. Any coach can restart the subscription and carry on where you left off. If it isn't restarted within two years, the team's data is deleted.

Does it work at grounds with no signal?

Yes, for the part that matters on the touchline. Match logging keeps working with no signal and catches up when your phone is back online, so nothing logged during a game is lost.

How do I get help?

The support page answers the usual questions, or email ada.appdevai@gmail.com. You can also send feedback from inside the app, under Settings → Feedback.
